A cake smash is a fun photo session to celebrate your baby’s first birthday. Your little one gets their own cake to explore, smash, and taste while the photographer captures adorable, messy moments.
📅 When should I schedule the session?
Most parents schedule the session when their baby is 10–11 months old. This allows time to get and use the photos for first birthday invitations or party decorations.
⏱️ How long does the session take?
Cake smash sessions usually last 30–60 minutes. This includes:
- A few clean portraits before the cake
- The cake smash portion
- Optional cleanup/bath photos afterward
👶 What if my baby doesn’t like the cake?
That’s completely normal! Some babies dive right in, while others take a little encouragement. Parents can help by:
- Letting baby taste a little frosting
- Bringing a favorite snack
- Smiling and interacting from behind the camera

🎨 Do you offer props and decorations?
We offer a styled setup with props and backdrop. If you have a theme (animals, boho, wild one, etc.), discuss it in advance so the set can match your vision.
🛁 Is there a cleanup after?
Our Cake Smash sessions include a mini bath splash after the cake smash. Babies love playing in the water, and it makes for adorable photos while cleaning them up.
👨👩👧 Can parents or siblings be in the photos?
Yes! You can add on Family portraits!
Many families like to start the session with a few family or sibling photos before the cake smash begins.
Siblings are welcome to pop in for cake smash portraits, including Pets!
📸 When will we get the photos?
Delivery times vary, we will deliver edited images within 2–3 weeks after the session.
